O’Neill Surf Academy NZ is a respected surf company operating across Northland, Matakana Coasts, Orewa Mount Maunganui. Our skilled surf coaching, stunning locations, small class sizes and pure love of the ocean make us unique. O'Neill Surf Academy operate in some of New Zealand's most beautiful untouched scenery, it's as though nature designed the Northland coastline with surfers in mind. Surf conditions change and because of our mobility we’re able to teach on nothing but the best Northland has to offer that day. In its purest sense sustainable tourism is an industry which attempts to make a low impact on the environment and local culture, while helping to generate income, employment, and the conservation of local ecosystems.
To protect our way of life we need to ensure we preserve our oceans and surrounding areas, The O'Neill Surf Academy tries, at all times, to be as eco friendly as possible. Our mission is to teach the fundamentals of surfing and adventure with an emphasis on participation, education, safety and above all fun. Our goal is to have a healthy, successful company that is a leader in customer service while respecting and making little impact on the environment. We use the best equipment available from our surfboards to wetsuits ensuring a safe enjoyable environment. O'Neill Surf Academy are accredited by Surfing New Zealand and the International Surfing Association.
O’Neill Surf Academy second surf school is based on the stunning Matakana Coast, a short drive from Auckland. Set on a remote peninsula, Tawharanui Regional Park boasts some of the Auckland region's most beautiful white sand beaches, rolling pastures, native coastal forest and regenerating wetlands. O'Neill Surf Academy is privaliaged to be the only surf school to have a concessions to opertare at Tawharanui. Soon surfers were riding more waves and could now enjoy longer sessions in cold water.
O'Neill relocated into a larger factory and he put all six kids to work growing his family business. In 1985 his son Pat assumed the CEO position freeing Jack to surf, sail and work at a variety of enviornmental projects. O’Neill Surf Academy is now operating in the pristine waters of Mount Maunganui, one of the most popular tourist destinations in New Zealand. Located in the heart of the Bay Of Plenty, across the harbour from Tauranga, The Mount is almost surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, with a stunning beach on one side of the peninsular and the sheltered waters of Pilot Bay on the other.
In addition to its beautiful coastline, The Mount offers an impressive choice of cafes, restaurants, bars and shops to keep you entertained at the end of your day of surfing!.
